January 2020: Fleeting Moments. Let us begin with an exhale.

As I contemplate these first few weeks of the new year and look forward to the year ahead, I can't help but feel the need to honor the past.

Every moment before this one has led me to this exact space in time. The paths I have chosen to walk and the paths that have chosen me, with as much resistance as I may have given them, have all built up to this precise instant. Even as I write this, a new present moment has set in, and the last one is now a glimpse on the page in my story. Every end truly does make way for a new beginning, and that new beginning makes way for a new end. A constant cycle of exhales and inhales, one cannot be without the other. Breath and time truly are fleeting.

The Yoga Sutra 1.12 reminds us to put in the work without any attachment to the end result.  I honor the breath that has brought me here by staying true to my purpose.  My resolution for this year and every moment ahead of this one is to make decisions that serve my greater purpose.  A goal has an end, a finish line, and this is why I set my intention at a higher level. A level to which goals can build, whether achieved or not. So my question to you is this: is your resolution a goal or a purpose? I urge you to aim well beyond the simple goal, to find clarity in your purpose so as to guide and inspire your decisions down paths that serve it.

No new beginning is possible without letting go of the old. Let's do it together: Take a big EXhale ... so that your very next inhale can be full of purpose, deep with love, spacious with awareness, and intentional with meaning. And then, we begin again.

With a great big EXhale,
Namaste 2020,

Laura
